Gauge: rnds 1-4 measures 2 1/4"

Finished size: 5" from top center to bottom edge when laying flat, not including brim. 6 5/8" from side to side of bottom edge, not including brim.

Abbreviations:
flo=front loop only
sc2tog (sc dec)=insert hook in specified st, yarn over, pull loop through, insert hook in next st, yarn over, pull loop through, yarn over, pull through all 3 loops.

This hat is worked in the rnd, mark your stitches and do not join unless otherwise noted.

Ch 2.

Rnd 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook (6).
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around (12).
Rnd 3 : (sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) repeat around (18).
Rnd 4: (sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st) repeat around (24).
Rnd 5: (sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st) repeat around (30).
Rnd 6: (sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st) repeat around (36).
Rnd 7: (sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st) repeat around (42).
Rnd 8: (sc in next 6 sts, 2 sc in next st) repeat around (48).
Rnds 9-19: sc around, sl st in next st at the end of rnd 19 and fasten off, weave in ends (48 each rnd).

Brim:
Row 1: Join with a sl st in flo several sts away from last st so that beg and ends of previous rows are not directly in front. ch 1, sc in flo of same st and in next 17 sts, ch 1, turn.
Row 2: sc2tog over next 2 sts, sc in next 14 sts, sc2tog over next 2 sts, ch 1, turn.
Row 3: sc2tog over next 2 sts, sc in next 12 sts, sc2tog over next 2 sts, do not fasten off, do not turn.

Border:
Row 23: Continuing from row 3 of brim, ch 1, sc in side of next 2 rows of brim, sc in corner where row 1 of brim and rnd 19 meet, sc in next 30 sts of rnd 19, sc in next corner where row 1 of brim and rnd 19 meet, sc in side of next 2 rows of brim, 2 sc in next corner, sc in next 16 sts of edge of brim, 2 sc in next st, sl st in 1st sc, fasten off, weave in all ends.

Flower:
With worsted weight yarn of choice and G hook, ch 2, beginning with long tail for sewing (if desired).
Rnd 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, (ch 3, sc in same st) repeat 5 times, ch 3, join with sl st in 1st sc.
Rnd 2: sl st in next ch 3 sp, ch 1, (sc, hdc, 3dc, hdc, sc) in same sp, *(sc hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc) in next sp**. Repeat * to ** 5 times, sl st in 1st sc, fasten off.
Center of flower:
Rnd 1: Join with sc around any sc on rnd 1, (ch 1, sc around next sc) repeat 5 times, ch 1, join with sl st in 1st sc.
Rnd 2: sl st in next ch 1 sp, ch 1, (sc, hdc, sc) in same sp, *(sc, hdc, sc) in next sp**. Repeat * to ** 5 times, sl st in 1st sc, fasten off, weave in all ends and sew flower to hat as desired.
